The
Olomouc city walls, which have stood intact for centuries, surround the
historic centre of the city. Outside the walls, one can find beautiful
parkland where moats and other fortifications once stood. The walls
have several passages through them where you can look out through the
narrow slits and imagine you are a medieval soldier. As far as I can
make out, the last time these walls came in handy was during the
unsuccessful Ottoman invasion of Moravia in 1663.
