There
are so many squirrels running around the Grinnell College campus that
the little furry beast has become the college's unofficial mascot.
These squirrels are gregarious, often making noises at people, and
sometimes allowing themselves to be fed by hand. This one is pictured
near Cowles Hall on North Campus. Across Mac Field, you can see the
bottom of what used to be Darby Gym. This gym not only housed
Grinnell's basketball matches, but also KDIC, the college student radio
station where I hosted a world music show. Darby Gym has since been
demolished, to be replaced by a new building called... Darby Gym.
